Here at BossSms, our hands have been on deck and we have been working hard to find a permanent solution.  Here are some landmarks we’ve attained.

We took it upon ourselves to inform the public, existing clients and prospective ones alike, how to opt out or unsubscribe from DND service. This has helped a lot of persons who got into the DND list by default, without their consent. Click the link below to see how to opt out from the DND service.

How to Remove (Unsubscribe) My Phone Numbers from the Do Not Disturb (DND) List.

We have now design a system that helps you filter out DND numbers from your recipients before sending your bulk SMS, so that you don’t get charged for it while they don’t get delivered. It has been tested and it worked without any issue. Click the link below to access the DND filter page.

BossSms will not relent in finding a permanent lasting solution to DND. Thanks.

It is no longer news that the ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND) Service is here to stay. This means that if you are currently on DND, you will not be receiving third-party SMS. While this is a very welcome development due to the abuse of the third-party bulk SMS services, it also has its down-side.

When your phone number is on DND, you will no longer receive notification from all of your services that sends notification SMS using third-party SMS services. This include but not limited to the following:

    • Examination PINs purchased online (eg WAEC, NECO, etc)
    • Electricity PINs from the third-parties that sell on behalf of the Electricity Distribution Companies
    • Transaction update of online purchases (eg Jumia, Konga, MallforAfrica, etc)
    • Updates from your school or that of your children
    • Notification and update from your religious organization

If you miss any of the above messages and will like to continue receive them, you will need to unsubscribe from the DND by

    (1) texting STOP to 2442

    (2) text ALLOW to 2442 to start receiving bulk SMS.

    See Image Below

RE: How to Remove (Unsubscribe) My Phone Numbers from the Do Not Disturb (DND) List (Networks

RE: How to Remove (Unsubscribe) My Phone Numbers from the Do Not Disturb (DND) List (Networks

To unsubscribe from ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND):

For MTN Lines Text STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text ALLOW to 2442.

For AIRTEL lines Text STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text OUT to 2442.

For GLO Lines Text STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text CANCEL to 2442.

For ETISALAT LinesText STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text START to 2442.

If after texting ALLOW to 2442, you are still not receiving third-party SMS, you might have to contact your telecommunication provider.

All Community Development Service (CDS) groups organized under the National Youth Service Corps, are charged with a responsibility to render a service to the community they find themselves. This services rendered, for most of these groups, involves educating and enlightening of the public or a targeted group of some important information for their general safety and well being.

In light of this, many CDS groups go for public sensitization and awareness on a regular basis. This sensitization is arranged in order to deliver important and beneficial lectures to the general public or their target group based on the core values that the CDS group stands for.

In most cases, the executives of the CDS group search out the place for the sensitization, gets the approval of the authorities in charge, agree on a date and time with them, then come back and update the group members with the arrangement made. Then, the team charged with delivering lectures meet together and prepare what is to be delivered on the agree date. Other group members are also intimated of this, so they prepare for the sensitization also.

In order to get everybody to turn up though on the day of sensitization, another thing is very important-Reminders. More often than not, because the day of public sensitization might not fall on the day for normal CDS meetings, many persons might forget. It is important therefore to send a reminder to everyone a day before the outing, to get all informed and get as many as possible to attend.

You can accomplish this with bulk SMS. Having gotten the phone numbers of all the members of the group, and a registered bulk SMS account, simply login and compose a reminder SMS and send to everyone. Everybody gets it at the same time, turn up on the sensitization day and make the outing a success.

Don’t have a bulk SMS account yet? Register a free one right away @ . Its uses are endless for your NYSC CDS group.

Application program interface (API) has been defined as a set of tools, protocols and routines used for building software applications. Simply put, it is the building block which defines how a program works.

BossSMS API affords you the opportunity to send your bulk SMS from a web application, a mobile application, a standalone application or even a website without needing to visit BossSMS official website.

With BossSMS API, you can carry out different operations like sending SMS, checking delivery reports, knowing SMS balance e.t.c. without necessarily visiting the website. You can even have a personal bulk SMS website and integrate with our powerful API to use the proven efficient message delivery of the platform for your own service.

To get started, simply visit to get the API codes.

Once this is done. You will need a programmer to interpret this for you and equally integrate it with your website if you’re not versed in that area.

With the right expertise to integrate these codes with your chosen system be it a website or an application, you can get the connection set up in no time.

Another beautiful thing about BossSMS API is that it is one of the free services that BossSMS offers and comes at no charge to anybody wishing to integrate with it. All you need is the system, the codes and a programmer for the integration if you can’t do it yourself.

You must have observed that a page of message on BOSSSMS is a maximum of 160 characters. Well, it might interest you to know that this isn’t peculiar to this platform but is a standard everywhere. Here is how we come to have 160 characters as a standard for a page of SMS.

It all started in the year 1985. A year earlier, SMS concept was developed by a German Engineer named Frieldhelm Hillebrand who works for GSM, but it was in this year, 1985 that the standard for a page of SMS was set.

Frieldhelm Hillebrand did some experiments in that year to determine the length of message. It was a general consensus that a message must be short but the standard length was yet to be ascertained.

Frieldhelm Hillebrand was at his house that day and was typing out random sentences at home on his personal computer. When he was done, he counted every letter, punctuations and numbers typed out and realized they are always 160 characters or less, and that was how the limit was decided.

Because lots of persons though opposed to his choice, Frieldhelm did further tests to confirm the suitability of the number of characters he has chosen. He got some random postcards that people sent and realized they were less than 160 characters. The same also applied for telex sent by random persons. Thus he discovered people were already used to sending short messages and as such the 160 characters mark will be fitting.

Over the years, this standard has been adopted for use and that has also been a basis for Twitter’s 140 characters mark, with the remaining characters for the user’s address.

So that is why a page of message is 160 characters. It’s a standard.

Hope this information on why a page of SMS is 160 characters helped. Share your opinions with us in the comment box below.

Do you have a bank account with Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) Nig. PLC? If yes, do you know you can make transfer of funds from your mobile phone at the comfort of your house using the GTB mobile transfer provision?

GTB introduced the mobile transfer service which allows you to recharge your phone, make transfers and manage your bank account with your mobile phone.

In order to be able to use this provision, you need a Master card ATM card, and with that you are good to go.

To make a transfer from your GTB account to BOSSSMS GTB account, follow these steps:

    • Dial on your phone *737*1*AMOUNT YOU WANT TO TRANSFER*ACCOUNT NUMBER YOU ARE TRANSFERRING TO#. In this case, since the transfer is for bulk SMS units and it’s to our GTB account, let’s say you want to pay 1500 naira for 1000 units, simply dial *737*1*1500*0124066440#.

    • Once you dial that and send, you will be required to enter the last four digits of your ATM card to authenticate or confirm the transaction. Then instantly, your cash gets transferred.

To transfer from your GTB account to any of BOSSSMS’ other bank accounts, follow these procedures:

    • Dial on your phone *737*2*AMOUNT YOU WANT TO TRANSFER*ACCOUNT NUMBER YOU ARE TRANSFERRING TO#. So let’s say you are paying 1500 naira for 1000 units into our ACCESSBANK account, simply dial *737*2*1500*0013552112#.

    • Once you click on send, you then enter the last four digits of your Master card to confirm the transaction and immediately the cash gets transferred.

Note that this transfer can be done on any mobile device. Also, the phone number that should be used for the transfer should be the one registered with your GTB account.

After completing the mobile transfer, you will need to forward the details of the transaction to any of our contact centre lines i.e. the amount transferred, the bank transferred to and the phone number used for the transaction. Once those details come in, your bulk SMS account will be credited instantly.

With this mobile transfer provision, making payment for your bulk SMS account just got more convenient, and that is our aim here at BOSSSMS  towards an exciting bulk SMS experience for you.

    1. Always Pay in With Your Username as the Depositor’s Name: When you make bank payment for bulk SMS units, our crediting department gets the payment from the bank with the name you used as the name of Depositor while filling the deposit slip. It might be difficult to know who to credit with the payment when the alert comes with a name that is not your username on the platform, which might cause delay in crediting your account. When you pay directly with your username, it is easier to know who made the payment, and for your account to be credited instantly.

    2. Ensure the payment is posted and with the correct username before leaving the bank: Once you fill your deposit slip and give to the bank cashier, the money paid has to be posted to the receiving party before the other account can get it. Sometimes, perhaps due to the size of transactions happening in the bank for the day, the bank cashiers might not post the payment you made immediately it was made. To ensure your account gets credited instantly when you make payment, you could urge the bank cashier(s) to send the payment as soon as it’s made. Also ensure the payment is sent with the correct username. Over here we have a fast crediting system that treats them as soon as they get here.

    3. Forward the payment details as a text message: This is not a necessity. It is just an option that could ensure faster crediting for your bulk SMS account. We have special agents in charge of treating such messages and even when your payment lags in the queue of payments made, it will be attended to faster following the message you’ve sent. The message that would be forwarded will include:

    -The username

    -The amount paid

    -The bank paid into, and

    -The teller number

    4. Forward the details to our always active WhatsApp chat agents: WhatsApp is fast becoming one of the biggest chat platforms in Nigeria. Well, the good thing is BossSMS is also live on WhatsApp. We have chat agents that attend to questions and inquiries 24 hours of the day. You can also use this medium to facilitate quick crediting of your bulk SMS account. Simply forward the payment details listed above to our WhatsApp account and get your bulk SMS account credited without delay. You could also take a snapshot of the deposit slip and send it over. The speed at which your bulk SMS account gets credited through this means may amaze you.

    5. Call our customer care agents and have your account credited even before you drop the call: After making your payment, you could put a call through to one of our customer care agents and give the details of your payment for faster crediting of your bulk SMS account.

At BossSMS, we are geared towards ensuring you get your SMS units as soon as you request for them. We already have an optimized crediting system which ensures this becomes a reality. By following the above suggestions though, you could enhance and fasten the process.

Are you too busy to use the bank to make payment? Or maybe you want an automated system of crediting? You can also try using the  online payment through voguepay option.

Comments on these suggestions will be appreciated.

In this part, we’ll focus on three (3) classes of people/groups you can use to grow your referral tree.

      • ASSOCIATIONS: There are numerous associations either set up by individuals or group of individuals for the purposes of unity and progress. These associations may range from old students associations, association of people in a particular line of business, or associations of people sharing a common interest. A beautiful way of disseminating information between the members of these associations is through bulk SMS. Do you presently belong to one? That’s a perfect opportunity.Or maybe there might just be one around you can take advantage of. Think about it.

      • SCHOOLS: Many schools, private and government owned, from the primary to the tertiary level, are making massive use of bulk SMS to pass information across to the students nowadays. Such is the abrupt evolution of bulk SMS as a means of communication to a large number of persons in a short time. These schools use bulk SMS service to also get information across to the parents and guardians of their students regarding the tuition fees, upcoming celebrations, PTA meeting, among other things. The thing of note is that lots of schools today still aren’t making use of this provision, using the conventional use of letters for communication purposes, at more cost and more energy use. If you are a staff in such schools, have any around you or know of any who could use the service, you might just have gotten a large branch to your referral tree.

      • TERTIARY INSTITUTION BODIES: While tertiary institutions are still under schools, it is imperatively important that we put it in a separate category. That is how numerous the opportunities opened here are. Such tertiary institution bodies includes; departmental bodies, faculty bodies, social clubs in school, the student’s union government (SUG), religious groups within the school e.t.c. Even class representatives and lecturers can use this to send information to the members of the class. If you are a student or a lecturer in any of the tertiary institutions, I believe you should be thinking what I’m thinking right now.

      • POLITICIANS: Present day politicians now see the advantage of using bulk SMS for their campaign messages. It reaches many persons at the same time and it’s much cheaper than use of posters, hand bills and bill boards. The good news is that lots of politicians still aren’t taking advantage of this avenue, and it’s something you can tell them if you know any.

      • BUSINESSES: Do you have a new business and believe so much in your product/services?. Do you wish you can get many more persons to subscribe to what you have to offer?. Bulk SMS marketing is the solution. It’s relatively cheap and affordable for upcoming and new businesses. Perhaps you don’t have one but know of someone who does, why not introduce the person today and watch your referral tree grow.

      • FIRMS/ORGANISATIONS: A lot of firms and government owned organizations uses bulk SMS for awareness on their programs, conferences and services. Even many non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private owned firms equally uses this service.

      • RELIGIOUS ORGANISATIONS: A sizeable number of bulk SMS users in Nigeria use this for religious purposes, for the church and the mosque. The religious leaders can use this to pass information across to their members, and in churches, groups like the choir group, drama group, church women associations, church youths association e.t.c. can use this service extensively.

      • EVENT MANAGERS: Under this are people preparing for wedding ceremonies, upcoming birthday parties, house warming ceremony, child naming ceremony, get-together parties, and wedding anniversary ceremony e.t.c. probably you know someone who is preparing for such occasion. Why not get the bonus from the person’s purchase by just referring such one to the platform.

      • INDIVIDUALS: Oh yes! Individuals also use bulk SMS service, and why wouldn’t they? It is far cheaper than having to use recharge cards from network operators to send personal messages. And what more? They could also use it to create awareness and invite people to some landmarks in their life such as their birthday parties, matriculation into higher institutions, convocation from school, freedom from apprenticeship, and even celebration of retirement.
